Irrigation System Solutions was co-founded by Phil and Debbie Sheppard. After acquiring over 35 years of landscape irrigation experience and 25 years of graphic design expertise, Irrigation System Solutions was founded to provide landscape irrigation training to new and seasoned irrigators. Basic landscape irrigation classes, as well as continuing education unit (CEU) classes are offered. Our goal is to provide unmatched landscape irrigation training by combining experienced professional teaching skills with our own personally developed training books and resources.
A large part of our training is focused on the education, promotion, support and practice of water conservation through creative irrigation design (which includes proper spacing, hydrozoning, xeriscaping and the use of freeze, rain, wind and soil sensors) and proper irrigation maintenance and scheduling.
Training aids include state-of-the-art power point presentations through a DLP projector, including digital photos of products and actual product samples for hands-on learning. One of the many reasons our company excels in training is our genuine care and dedication to teaching students. We are available for extra assistance during breaks, lunch and after class hours. Every student will have access to our email, phone number, and a toll-free number (for students from other areas) to call for assistance even after the class. Our job does not stop at the end of class! Furthermore, any student who wants more training or does not pass the exam is welcome to come to any of our scheduled basic classes (free of charge) to get more training.
Phil's dad, Homer Sheppard (Texas License #247), was a driving force that inspired our training classes. He was devoted to unmatched excellence in irrigation installation (both residential and commercial) and customer service and introduced Phil to the irrigation business, both in contracting and training. Homer loved this business, as we do now, as it took him away from the average office job to a more fulfilling family business. We can still picture him wearing his safari hat and saying, “Continue to march, boys,” or “Great day in the morning,” when confronting a particularly difficult irrigation situation.
Thanks to this business, we have been able to work with family and best friends. I sincerely hope we can instill our passion and enthusiasm for this industry to you and make for an enjoyable training experience.
